What "Document Ready" Actually Checks
This tool doesn't guess. For each document you upload, it checks the file type against what's normally accepted, the file size against commonly seen lender upload limits, and gives you an overall readiness score β all computed locally in your browser using plain JavaScript, with nothing ever sent to a server.
It does not verify the content of your documents (whether your PAN number is correct, whether your bank statement covers the right months) β only whether the file itself is in good shape to upload. You're still responsible for checking the content is accurate and current.
The Seven Documents Most Lenders Ask For
Income proof, PAN, Aadhaar, address proof, six months of bank statements, property documents, and a passport-size photo make up the core checklist across most major Indian banks. Self-employed applicants typically substitute ITR filings and Form 16 for salary slips. A few lenders ask for one or two extras β a co-applicant's documents, or business registration proof for self-employed applicants β so treat this as the common baseline, not an exhaustive list for every lender.
Common Mistakes
- Submitting bank statements as photos: A stack of photographed statement pages is hard to verify and often rejected outright. Convert them into a single PDF first.
- Not checking file size before the appointment: Discovering a 15MB scanned property document at the bank counter wastes a trip. Check and compress beforehand.
- Outdated bank statements: Most lenders want the most recent 6 months β a statement that's 8 months old at submission time is often rejected even if otherwise fine.
Expert Tips
- Scan, don't photograph, where possible: A proper scan (or a flatbed scanning app) avoids the shadows and skew that make photographed documents harder to read and more likely to be flagged.
- Keep a single folder per application: Lenders often ask for the same documents again at different stages. Keeping cleaned, correctly-sized copies saves you from redoing this work.
- Check your specific lender's exact list: This tool covers the common baseline β your bank's application portal or relationship manager will confirm anything lender-specific.
Document requirements vary by lender and aren't governed by one central authority β this checklist reflects what's commonly requested across major Indian banks as of July 2026. Always confirm the exact list with your specific lender before your appointment.
