Insurance & Protection Planning
Turn life insurance, health cover, emergency cash and existing policies into one transparent protection view. Enter your own assumptions. CalcuTools does not rank insurers or tell you which policy to buy.
What this cluster answers
How CalcuTools treats insurance decisions
Insurance is not a single-number optimisation problem. A low premium can still be poor protection if exclusions, waiting periods, deductibles, co-payments, policy limits or claim conditions leave a large uninsured amount. Conversely, buying more cover than the household can sustainably maintain can create its own problem.
Life protection
The life-cover planner uses a simple current-value framework: family support need for the chosen years + outstanding debt + stated goals โ liquid assets โ existing life cover. It is deliberately transparent rather than presenting a universal income multiple as a rule.
Health protection
The health planner lets you choose a stress-test hospital cost, a buffer, existing health cover, employer cover and a medical reserve. The output is a gap against that scenario, not a promised claim amount or policy recommendation.
Regulatory context
Insurance products and policyholder protections in India are regulated by IRDAI. For health insurance, IRDAI's 2024 framework includes claim-service timelines and other policyholder requirements. Always read the policy wording and Customer Information Sheet for the specific product you are considering.
